Where are you?

Hi, DJ.
I just got 2 gorgeous crown tails at Petsmart. I couldn't beleive it when I saw them, but there they were! Not show quality, of course. But no signs of disese or anything. I took some pics w/ a friend's digital, as soon as she emails them to me I'll post them.
Take a look there. As it is chain bussiness, I would think they have similar products at each store.

If you are looking for fancy, show quality bettas, the internet is full of sites where you can get them. If, like me, you can't justify spending 50+ bucks for a fish (my husband would kill me), you'll have to look closer to home. I have a friend that works for my lfs. I asked him if he could order a crowntail...and he came through for me. :) I've heard folks say they found CTs at Petsmart and sometimes even Wal-mart, but I've never seen anything other than the red/blue veils at either of those places around here.

Starting out, you should not pay AquaBid prices. Ask around, and most breeders have an extra or 2 for sell. You get a nice fish with good bloodlines, and then as you learn to spawn them...you get better fish in the offspring. You can usually get several nice fish for what you would pay for 1 on AB. Combining shipping greatly reduces your cost per fish. I'm only guessing, but there is probably fish for sale from members on this board. They would be very good lines, and maybe not cost you so much. BCBettas is the closest top breeder to you. She is in BC Canada, but drives to Washington state to ship.

thanks alot for the replys! i hvae a friend on the bords thats gonna sell me a pair in spring. so it looks like im goning to get a male localy in the mean time to learn about care...... and yes after shiping to the states most of the aquabid bettas where around $50+. bc bettas had one i wanted but it was a female for $5 and shiping was still 20$-30$ witch is too much ATM. so i guess for me the best place is going to be from a breeder on the forums or in the states atleast. :D thanks agan for all the advice :D

If you have a "Chinatown" around there, look for the aquariums in that section of the city.

I just picked up 2 crowns at my lfs for 10 bucks a piece. I know, 10 bucks is a probably little steep, but they perty, and I  crowns!! Believe it or not, I saw a female double tail at Walmart tonight. Didn't get her though. 1. no room, and 2. Don't really like the double tails that much..... She was big though! As big as all the males they had there. But she was a female. The egg spot was obvious.
