got some larger stones that are starting to collect "stuff" between them, that even the Corys can't get into, in my medium Cichlid tank...

got a shallow pile at the base of the bubble waterfall, starting to grow some stuff I don't want in the tank, between the rocks... it's a 24 inch tall tank, so it's harder to reach the bottom... I'm thinking about something like this to try to suck out between the rocks... anyone else with a similar problem, & what are you using??? looks like I could add another rigid tube section, & then this might work pretty good???

also considered building one, using normal sized hose, reduced to that smaller rigid tube, to increase the velocity of the suck...

also considered adding a few Cambarellus patzcuarensis ‘orange... ( Mexican dwarf Cray's ) but concerned they may end up as lunch, for the Electric blues, or larger Angel???

I use this home made siphon and it does a great job.

I would consider rescaping. I always make sure there are no major gaps I can't get to, beyond what you would find with smallish grained pool filter sand. I used to have pebbles and piles, but now, I avoid them. So much can go wrong if life intervenes and for some reason you have to step back from the tanks for a few weeks.

Part of my problem there, is the stones are on the side I feed from, and the water flow pushes down there, so I end up with food getting in the rocks… it’s challenging to reach over far enough, but if I feed at the center of the tank, very little gets to between the rocks… it’s a fairly thin layer of sand in the tank ( just a little over an inch ) so it rarely gets vacuumed… I think if I siphoned my water change water out with a smaller higher velocity sucker over the rocks, that might work pretty good
