in a chair...
so i finally took my brother out to get his birthday present of a betta fish, he's picked a flame red male veiltail (beautiful), now named blaze, and is absolutely estatic about owning one all of his own now :) i'll have no worries about his betta not being taken care of, if anything he'll be pampered beyond belief!

i couldn't resist the urge and had to pick one up for myself, an irridescent blue/green/purple/red male, a mutt pretty much ;) but such a beautiful one really that i couldn't pass him up. his fins are a little torn around the edges but i think a little tlc and he should be alright pretty soon. his name is santana :p

sorry there are no pics, i'll try to get them up as soon as i can, but my scanner's down right now, so who knows how long it'll be....

so thank you to everyone who answered any of my posts, you have advised me to be able to provide a comfortable home for our bettas

one more thing...does anyone find it absolutely necessary to have aquarium salt in the water for bettas? i've heard it can be a good thing but not absolutely necessary and others that swear by it....

i have never heard of putting aquarium salt into a betta tank. so i will stay here and see what everybody says.

It's not absolutely necessary. Some use it,some don't. They all seem to thrive either way. I myself use it in every tank. It's just a matter of whether you want to and personal experience. Bettas don't need it,but they can benefit from it. :)

Yep, as the previous poster said it's all a matter of personal preference. I have a bit of salt in all my Betta tanks as well and especially in my spawn tank to help the babies from getting fungus or other diseases.
