For £2.99 Today at the petshop! I got my last one for around this price too. I'm kinda glad in a way that they don't know the correct species in there and i do

I now have two. My first Bristlenose is doing great and eating well in the tank, there is plenty of hiding places so i see her quite often.

Is there anything anyone can advise me about keeping two of them?

I guess i'll have to put more than one algae wafer in now. Perhaps a big slice if cucumber...

what size is your tank and do you have bogwood? if so, is it big enough for 2 full grown BNs?

Its 100ltr tank which i believe is about 22 gallons roughly.

They are (i think by looks) two females. There is a large piece of mopani wood in there and i have just bought another which i am soaking at the moment. Roughly the same size. They seem to be enjoying each others company after the first night. They are amongst a load of plants at the back of the tank and are sitting side by side and seem happy.

well done you survived the questioning. Do females grow the "bristles" ? because i have one and it has got no bristles what so ever and i was just wondering if its only the males that grow them.

Females can also grow bristles but never to the extent of the male, if they extend up the middle of the nose or are forked at the tip then the fish is male, a female will only have bristles around the edge of her nose, young bristlenoses around 1 inch or so are generally quite cheap to buy usually around the 2.99 mark in most lfs it's only when they are adult that the price increases dramatically.

£2.99 is a great price. at my lfs they are £6 each at about an inch.

It's extremely unusual to find them at the lfs here at any price.

Yeah i thought it was cheap too. I think they where supposed to be about 8 pound, but i asked for 'that Plec' and got it as a common.

Thats how i got both of mine, first one I paid 3 bucks and just found another one ffrom the same place for 2! Also sold to me as a common. Stupid people at the LFS, but I found another place that said they will special Order me anything I want!!!! I think Im in trouble!!!!!!!!

Your right though, In Ohio, I cant find hardly any good fish around my town. :(

Having 2 BNs in that tank should be fine, the fact you have 2 females too should make things a little more calm too

The reason I asked is that I have 1 male BN who is now just over 4" and he is a right hard nut and a bit of a bully to be honest, he scares all the cichlids I have :) I want to get a female added to the tank but need to really get one that can handle itself, i.e. atleast 3" when entering the tank, otherwise I think it would suffer...

My first BN is a male, He's not to bad just moved him in the 35G, He was tring to take over my rapheals spot but that didnt happen, my other BN (the newbie) is only about an inch, so its in my guppy tank, if its a male Im going to give it to my mom. Its nice getting them so cheap, people want $40 + around my area
