Got My Nikon Kit

I finally recieved my entire Nikon kit, I'm all set now on lenses and flash etc.

Here's what I've ended up with:

I'm extremely pleased with the quality of the lenses and the body. Image quality blows my mind.

It's like a chunk of solid gold. (and about as heavy)

But I like the 70-200 better still.

yeah the 70-200 is a wonderful piece of glass...whats it like on a full frame body? I've read its alittle dark in the corners, you noticed that?

Not really, you'd have to shoot something pretty bright to notice it. I'm doing portraits mostly, so shot backgrounds that are blurred and a bit dark are pretty common. The shot I posted is somewhat typical for me. The vignette doesn't show there, and the supposed blurry corners (while they seem perfectly sharp to me) don't affect anything because I'm blurring them out anyway.

But let me tell you, the lens acquires focus faster than my eyes can, and it's sharp sharp sharp, and very contrasty. I'm not great with P-shop and I usually end up making the photos from these two Nikkors look worse. I've been leaving a lot of shots alone with this new glass.

tell me about it! Its awesome for shooting action, and doubles as a good portrait lens when you need it to

Something strange, but I notice the vignette more with the 24-70 lens. Perhaps it's because I wasn't really expecting it, but it's definately there and at times can be quite noticeable. But that lens is superb as well and the vignette is super easy to correct in PP.

Once I took the UV filter from the 24-70 it pretty much went away, but not entirely. I'm being told that this is one of the things you deal with when shooting FX.

Even the 85 vignettes some.

Using the image circle to it's max I suppose.

I have notıced a small amount of vıgnettıng wıth my 70-200mm at tımes but, as you say, ıt ıs easıly corrected.

If your budget can extend to ıt, you should serıously consıder a wıde angle such as the Nıkkor 14-24mm f2.8. then you wıll really see a major benefıt of full frame. It ıs a beautıful pıece of glass for landscapes.

I don't shoot Nikon, but I would agree with Dave, you should check out a nice wide angle, even for portrait shots. They're not flattering close up, but can be used for really cool shots to include your subjects with them.
