how would i get them to breed?

drop the temputure?

its on 27oc at the moment.

thanks

I don't do anything special, mine just breed. They will need a cave to breed in -- some people use a half clay pot that they can both shimmy into, others just some PVC pipe. I have a big root that they get inside. My tank temp is around 75 degrees F

PS if your BNs are stocked with the fish in your sig, I don't see the fry having much of a chance.

I have a root too. go to wikipedia and search the bristlenose pleco. they have a section that is very detailed about the mating ritual and about the male taking care of the eggs. He doesn't come out for days and pampers his eggs. they are very good parents especially because they don't eat there children.

thanks, yeah they have a few caves. well 2 to choose from as one is my royals he loves it haha.

mine is at the moment 24 oc..

but still nothing happening :S

thanks nothing yet. so im going to be puting a few more hides in. see how that works :)

ok ive turned the temp to 26.5oc and put a load more caves but they dont seem interest?

Probably because you really havent created ideal conditions for them to breed in.

Fish will only breed if they think the fry will survive, whats the point in wasting all that energy breeding and raising fry for them to die/get eaten.

You have a strange combination of fish in your tank (that I would consider changing IMO) and this may be stopping the BN's breeding because they dont feel natural enough if you get my drift.

Hi There, I had a pair of red/black plec,s which would always spawn shortly after a 20% cold water change, the sudden drop in temp indicates the rainy season for them, hope this helps and good luck.

ok thanks i will try the 20% cold water change tommorrow
