Hi all,

So my Cherry shrimp just arrived, suprisingly the seller didn't put a heatpack in and the water was VERY cold when I opened them out the box.. :/

I have put them in the tank, and they are bobbing whilst I let the water temp adjust..

I have to run to work in 15 minutes, will they be ok in the sealed bag sat in the top of the tank for another 3 or so hours?

Another question is, they are TINY (under 1cm some of them half)... will they be ok with my platy?

I have an amano in there which is about a CM, but not that small.. and the platy doesn't seem to bother them

Anyone, leaving in 5 :X

Well, leaving them in the bag.. hope they're ok.

If someone can let me know on the size that'd be great...

sorry. probs too late. I think they should be OK, but i probs would have opened the bag first.
No idea about size - dont have (but want) shrimp.

I wouldn`t worry too much about the temp of the water to be honest, I find that my shrimps are actually more active if the temp is down a bit and it doesn`t do them any harm.

Too late now but as the shrimps are so small, don`t be surprised if they do get eaten by your platy. I remember a couple of us did tell you that if something can fit into a fishes mouth then it`s likely to get eaten, that`s one of the reasons why I said I wouldn`t offer you any of mine with them being so small at the mo.
The only thing I would advise if you haven`t done it yet (which you may well have done) is to get lots of Java moss in the tank so that the shrimp can hide away a bit, some really small hidey hole ornaments if you can as well.

Fingers crossed that your platy doesn`t fancy shrimp salad for lunch ;)

Well i'm back and the bags been cut open, i'm going to transfer them in now.

The bag has some snails in it, would it be ok to put these into my main tank for my assassin snail, or not?

I have put all 4 of the plants in one corner for the shrimps to hide in, i've also transferred the two half-cut coconut caves and put them in for the shrimp to hide under... and put the bogwood in aswell as the one thats in there.

Let's hope my moss arrives tomorrow so I can put it on the wood and give them more cover!

Well, all seems to be OK.. he didnt seem to pay them any interest actually, just hid away whilst I was putting them in.. so lets keep fingers crossed!

I've put an old spray-bar pipe on the floor, not the prettiest sight but a small tube that they can hide in aswell as the bamboo, cave and plants...

Once I get the moss I think i'll tie it around the pipe :) think it'll look rather nice.. with that and the wood covered.

Anyone on the snails? Left them sat in the bag but will just throw them away if not a good idea.

If you`re going to add the snails, just be aware that a few can breed like mad and you could end up with waaayyyyy too many because snails will definitely do 'the buisiness' ;)

Must be cherry shrimp day today, I have just released 20 into my new shrimp tank (unheated) Check the planted journal section jon. Some of mine are less that a cm.

Defo add the snails. Your assinsses will love you for it. Watch it make a be line for them try dropping on near 2 him(them)

Also squish one or 2 up between ur fingers and drop them in. Your fish will lobe you this time for that
