got an african brown knife, in my 37-gallon tank. so far she hasn't ate any guppies- nor has even showed an interest in them. has tried for the ghost shrimp though.

cool find  any chance of some pics?

agreed with dwarfs, over time the guppy's will mysteriously disappear :p

she still hasn't shown an interest in them. she keeps trying to get the ghost shrimp though. i put her in there last night. i was going to put her in my 135, but i am putting a clown knife in there next week. my fav lfs is getting some albino clown knife fish next week (well, supposed to; this is the third week she was supposed to get them). i am going to look at them before i buy a clown, she has regular ones right now. i had one before, but it died; house fire, too much heat.

I had an african brown knife (X. nigri) that picked off about 4 feeder guppies overnight :p I wish I could find another one of these knives  (Defective heater raised water to 100 degrees :grr: )

I would try something other than guppies... they often introduce disease (as can any feeders), and are not very nutritional... I would give mysis shrimp a shot. ;)

it is 72"x18"x24" (lxdxh). my fav lfs (sue) has a 20-yo clown in a 240-gallon, that is 72"x 24" x 24". in the wild they get to be about 40"; but in aquariums, usually 24" is the norm. her's is about 30". i have been told by my 2nd fav lfs (greg) that sue has bigger fish than most people grow. greg has some clown loaches that are ~10" in a 540-gallon he built ( it is awesome!).

thats only about 150 gallons.and too small for it really.

my tanks too small for one which is 200 gallons you should be looking at atlast 300gallons for them.

They almost never get over 24" in captivity, usually not even that... a 200 should be fine, but you never know how large it will grow... it is best to prepared, to avoid preparing your fish, if you catch my drift. B) :D

they probable never get above that because they get stunted and can't grow any more, given a big enough tank they would grow to full size.

it must be bigger then. she says it's a 240. i know it is 72" long, i was guessing height and depth. i plan on building a huge tank; out of plywood and acrylic most likely; who needs a dining room anyway....

Not at all. Even in the wild it is quite rare to find one over 24" in size...
