Ok I've had a pair of honey dwarf gauramis male and female, that are in season, I have seen the male determined to try to make a bubble nest, but with two penguin 150 bio wheel power filters the current has been too fast for him.

Solution:
How to make a barrier to stop the current.

Parts required
3/4 in clear tubing
aquarium silicone
2 heater suction cups
Small fake plants

instructions
Cut the tube to desired length in which you want to stop the current ( I cut min to about 8 inches)
apply silicon on the inside of tube generously
push hard end of suction cup into tube, let dry
apply suction cup to two sides of a corner

having it in the corner allows you to attatch some short fake plants to the side, I have them wedged between the lid and the glass top

heres a quick pic

within hours the male has already begun making bubbles

I've heard stories about people using systems like the one you mentioned to cultivate Riccia at the surface; they certianly do work. Another option is to grow Giant Salvina; the plant is like duckweed, only 4 inches across.

Very good. I will keep in mind this plan if mine start making their own plans. I have water surface aggitation too.

Have the plants stopped getting mysteriously chewed through?
