My female sail fin molly got babies i am happy but the problem is. When i saw it fat i put it in the breeding box. After a while i came a check on it i saw a baby fry in the box which i was happy? Now the problem is that i only got 1 fry from it? Is this normal is there anything wrong with it? Should i let her out of the box? When should i feed the fry?

Update. BAd new is that the baby fry was born dead. The female is in the breeding box and the fry are directly dropped in a safe place? The baby was dead it wasent moving i removed the female and the v thing from the box? It looks like dead so i put it in the tank and they ate it? 10x SO SAD NOW

The mother wont eat the babies straight away, I think I read they are safe form mum for around 12 hours, if its her first babies it can be a small drop, 1 sounds a bit unusual though.

I have been putting it in the breeding box for 4 hours and i only got 1 fry?? U mean i should put it back in the breeding box and keep it for tomorrow maybe it will lay more fries? I just check the tank no fries? Should i return it to the breeding box maybe more will drop?

i would personally leave her in the main tank, if you have no more fry from her ,you will get some more in 4-5 weeks time, best not to stress her out as the trap you have with the V is a but too small for a sailfin

The tank isnt planted that good because the lfs does have plants he will be getting soon? What do i do? I return it to thte breeding box or keep it in the tank? The stomach is still fat? I guess none will survive if it has it fry in the tank?

If it has some plants then a couple will survive or if you have other places to hide e.g. several of mine hide just under a plant pot where there was a gap. Keep your eye on the mother and be armed with a net when she looks to be giving birth. :)

What could make my little fry die in the breeding box when the female sail fin was laying eggs? I only got one and its dead what are the reasons.
