Bought each of our kids bettas and bought a betta bow for the fish. Got a veiltail and a halfmoon double tailed plakat. About ended up with just one betta by the morning. Seems the veiltail is small enought to get through the divider and the side of the tank

After my son losing 2 Bettas and my daughter losing 1 I have about given up on them. Got my daughter 1 more since my son had 2 and bought my son two Guppies, 1 male and 1 female. I'm really upset with the loss of these Bettas. My daughter's second Betta I bought from a different pet store and it seems to be a much happier one, it continues to swim in her 2.5 gallon tank unlike the last one that kept looking for hiding places at the bottom of the tank. I think the problem was the water we used or else we just got bad fish and I had bought fish from this pet store before and had no problem with the other fish.

If this last Betta dies I'm done with them. Apparently my family isn't meant to have Bettas.

Did you cycle the tanks before adding the fish? Are they filtered & heated?

Personally, I wouldn't put those gupppies in there though. They do much better in larger tanks, and it's not the best keeping them 1M:1F, as it can put a lot of pressure on the female. They're better kept in ratios of 1:3+, though that won't work in a 2.5G. I wouldn't put anything other than a betta or shrimp in a 2.5G, it is a very small space.

Yes. It was to do partly with the water my husband told me toward buy. The alkalinity was not high enough was what I was told but im not going to fight over water quality. I switch my daughters new one to tzp water and it seemed to fix the problem. If it has then I won't be buying bottled water again for an aquarium.

I just use water out of my tap for my aquarium. Did the water you used have any particular additives? Glad to hear that the other betta seems to be working out :good:

Not that I'm aware of. Thankfully the tap water is working with still changes about everyday to the water and "Rainbow" my daughter's betta and "Fireball" and "Peach Fireball" my 4 yr old's guppies are quite happy. Now I need to get the kids to start saving money for plants or decorations for their tanks.
