i don't get it...there really isnt anything special about that fish :/

i've seen bettas i'd pay $200 for if i had the spare cash, but that one definitely is not among them!

Now that's a fish, Titan is quite a looker. Now, the other one wasn't that special IMHO, and it seems that the same person keeps bidding against himself. :S Now that's a little loony.

best of all, Titan was only $7.99! i'm surprised they didn't charge more than regular plakat price for the giants. i should have waited till today to buy Titan and Thor, because that store does buy-one-get-one-free on fridays, but i didn't want to risk someone buying them from under me! i think it's worth $15.98 for a couple of ginormous gorgeous plakats

Where do you get your bettas, they are absolutely stunning, and I am   because I'm really liking Plakats now. They're just so cool. Any chance you're gonna breed your new little men?

WOW. :hyper: It's GOT to be the colour of that fish! I've never seen one that colour before. With only 9 bids to go from $20 to $203 SOMEBODY wants that colour. I agree he's not my fav kind of Betta but my first reaction sure was W-O-W! :hyper: Thanks for the heads up on that link. What a colour!

It makes you wonder if the person bidding is really serious about buying the betta. They have 0 feedback, maybe they are like the trolls we sometimes see here. :dunno: I can't make sense of it. The fish is pretty, there is no doubt about it, but worth $200? I don't think so.

FishEnthusuast,
That is exactly what I was thinking. I feel sorry for the breeder, as I have the feeling he is going to get stiffed. Something is weird there. The only legitimate thing I can think of is the "secret max bid" feature Aquabid has. It seems like they put in the max bid of $200 back when the fish was $40.

The yellow is interesting, but there is no way I would pay that much.

That's exactly right. It tells you who "bumped up" the bid when you look at the bid history. AaronHan put his max at $200, then Bll2 put HIS at 200, then when he saw someone else already had 200, he put it at 201. Then AaronHan came back and put it at 203. It's all perfectly legit. :)

it's not the color, there are plenty of fish that color.

i bet i know what it is. that high bidder probably worked out a price with the breeder offline and just put in a max bid high enough to ensure he wins the auction. that copper bf i have? i know the breeder's uncle so we negotiated a price before the auction closed, and they said they'd make sure i won it. that's probably all it is.
