Today is a very sad day for me, upon getting home from work this afternoon i found that my arowana had nearly killed the oscar leaving me no choice but to have to give the arowana away. The oscar was bought to try and curb the arowana's aggression a little by giving it a large target fish to take its anger out on, but it seems that even a big fat grumpy oscar couldnt cope with the sheer evilness of a jardini arowana. Knowing that once the oscar was out of the way the arowana will just find a new target to kill i have had to make the hard desision to give away one of my favourite and largest fish. Luckily another member here who is a close personal friend is going to take it from me so i will still be able to visit it from time to time, but i still will miss seeing the elegance and power of this fish every time i look into my tank :-(

:( Cfc You love that fish, can't you sort your tanks out so you can keep it some way,be a shame get rid of it -_-

Buy another tank.

Oh CFC you have no idea how sorry I am to hear that. At least you will be able to see the fish though.

:( :(

Setting up another tank is just not a available option without either having to murder my girlfriend or leave her and be single  i have empty tanks just no real room to set them up. I had hoped to be able to hang on till early next year when i should have moved house and will be able to get a fish house sorted out but the arowana's aggression has just grown too quickly. I knew when the original plans to move house were delayed earlier this year that this might happen so ive had some time to prepare for it, doesnt make it any easier though, at least i dont have to return it to a lfs where someone with a tiny little tank might come and buy it

Bummer. Beautiful fish.

My least favourite LFS has an 18 inch silver aro in a tank full of cherry barbs.
Everytime I visit there's less barbs and more arowana.

I don't think people are buying the barbs...

Real Shame CFC, sorry to hear it. At least he's going to a good home though where you can see him.

I know this is no consolation what so ever but I think there are some Black Arowanas about at Wildwoods and Wholesale Tropicals.

He should look all sad to his g/f ,she might let him put a tank in the bedroom

Sorry to hear it CFC. :/

Kudos for finding it a great home and having visitation rights. It's always good to see such a responsible pet owner such as yourself.

Sorry to hear that CFC, but at least he's in a good home and perhaps when you do move next year and get your fish house setup you can get him back and be reunited again?

Arfie

Instead of giving the arowana to that other person, could they maybe just look after it for you until you have your new set-up ready? long shot I know, but it sounds like you're really attached.
