What new world cichlids would work well in a 55 gallon tank that has a very large silver dollar, a festivium, 2 white line pims, 2 tinfoil barbs and a pleco?

is it a planted tank?
you could keep angelfish, t-bars, parrot cichlids, acaras

anything not too aggressive really

if its a 55 gallon you should re-home the silver dollar and tinfoil barbs as both like to be in groups and both require a bigger tank than you have . once that is done draw up a list of cichlids youd like to keep and members here can help/advise with chices suitable for your tank .

Well im not taking the dollar or barbs out... the silver dollar is around 12 years old
ive always had tinfoils and dollars in that tank. And they do just fine but ill probably get more dollars/

Its not planted so what are those Uarus like?

Lovely fish, grow quite large 8-10 inches but probably one of the most peacful cichlids around. due to their size I always wondered why some people say they are good tankmates for the likes of Discus but after keeping them I can see why, really placid fish...

Uarus wont work in this tank, they max out at about 12 inches (8-10 maybe for a female) need to be kept in at least trios are a very gentile fish that I dont think will mix well with your tinfoils they will be a bit too rowdy for the uarus.

I still stand by my advice on your other thread that you need to get rid of your tin foils. Or get a bigger tank, even if you got a 4x2x2 which is a 100USG (ish) it would be better than the 55 they really do get huge. I know your fish are old and you have been doing this a long time but seriously its not fair on a foot long schooling fish in a 4ft tank.

*edit

PS...I thought you had 2 white line pims?

I do i just messed up on the sig and i thought i changed it but i guess i didnt.
You can see a picture of both of them in the species section.

How do you think BLue acaras would fair? They seem like a really good looking fish

EDIT- and what about a flowerhorn? what is their temperment like? my LFS has like four flowerhorns

Flowerhorn no they are insanely violent. Blue acara could work well though

Yeah i just read about that actually. they sure are beautiful fish though.
Thanks a lot for the help wills. Ill probably start looking for a blue acara and ill post pictures when and if i get one :look:

I think FH are so berserk aggressive cause of all the hybridizing, plus they are Red devil related.

why ask for advice then completely ignore it. i know it wasnt what you anted to hear but your tank simply isnt big enough for the fish you have or most of the fish you want. advice my friend is freely given and you are of course free to know better
