I have been looking around and I am woundering; is This Live Rock Good? It says its Nano rock, but is that a difference? And it lookes dried out when its shipped. How do you make it 'live' again? do you just put it back in the water? And how do you put invertabrates on coral/rock? Do you just drop it in?

Ethos..nano rock only implies that the pieces that liveaquaria.com puts in the package are pieces shaped about the size of softballs or smaller so that it is easy to stack in a nano-tank, or tank smaller than about 30 gallons. Almost all LR arrives packed with wet paper unless you buy what is called 'aquacultured' which is 'grown' down in Florida...search google or yahoo for Tampa Bay Aquacultured LR. The rock is 'always live'...it just has some 'die off' during shipping and that is part of the re-cycling process when you get it. Yes..it goes back into the saltwater that you make and then you have to cycle the rock. Invertebrates implies many things including snails, crabs, etc....I assume you are implying corals. The corals often arrive on 'frags' or pieces of LR that you place as per the corals requirements in your tank. Ethos...go to Amazon.com and look up:

1) Paletta's book on starting a Marine tank
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detai...=books&n=507846

2) Borneman's on corals:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/189...4162744-2671150

If you are thinking about starting a marine tank, these two books are invaluable starters and may save you hundreds of dollars. If you eventually are going to buy your LR online, check out premiumaquatics.com. Good luck. SH

Thanks.......Have you ever heard of 'Aquraiums for dummies'?
Well, I heard they have a saltwater one out, and its pretty useful......

I wouldn't suggest going by anything the "For Dummies" series write, because the books are written by dummies. The general "Aquariums for Dummies" book was horrible, and every other book I've read of that series is just as bad.

I second Steelhealr's reccomendations.

Actully I learned a ton of useful information in that book.
Although I like to read, and most likely will come across reading those 3 books, thanks for the info
