Good Gravel For Mystery Snail

Im preparing to buy 3 mystery snails ( the small ones that dont eat plants). What kind of gravel is best for them? do they tolerate salt? What colors do they come in? and how can i pick out a healthy one from the petstore?

gravel doesn't make any difference to snails.
most don't tolerate high levels of salt but will tolerate small amounts.
they are usually brown but are available in a yellow shell too.
just look for a snail that is crawling around. They should retract back into the shell when disturbed.

If you're setting up a tank just for snails, aragonite sand or coral gravel is beneficial, but not necessary. They're fine with anything, and will likely spend more time on the glass/plants anyway.

Yes, of course, you should always aclimate new additions.

snails like to burrow down into sand. and the color
can be blue, black, gold, or brown. find the one that is
moving around a lot and doesn't have something growing on it.

Im currently treating the tank for a bacterial infection outbreak. Would the snail be okay with the medication? Are they prone to disease and infectoin?

read the label on the medication, and if it says they'll be
okay than it will be fine. but if it doesn't just to be on the
safe side if you have a seperate tank, transfer the animals that
don't need to be treated over to there. you'll need to pretty
much clone the water status though.

I think that they can get some kinds of diseases.
Because ive heard people telling me that stuff was growing on their snails shell.

I have 3 mystery snails but ive never had to treat the water.

where do you live? they have great snails on aquabid.com but I live in america. They come is colors like, purple, pink, blue, gold, ivory, jade, and more! I love my purples! And the blue is really nice lookihng as well.

If you are UK based then Snailshop do a LOT of varieties of snail, including purple etc apple snails.
