Good deal on Java moss?

Uhhhh yeah I'd say so, if it were for my area.

For Java moss for a 2"x2" ball of it costs $9.95 plus tax haha

If you leave the matt to grow for a while, then trim the top off (if that gets too long and left like that for two long, it will cause a brown patch in the middle underneath where that moss wasn't getting enough light, but it'll grow back once its trimmed) then you can take the moss you trimmed and attach it to a stone or wood or something, propagate that etc etc, you'll be set for moss for life three bucks is a good deal.

I would say so. A small clump of Java Moss at my LFS cost me $3.99. I grew all of this from it:

(Sorry for the terrible photo quality. I really need to trim it, just haven’t got around to it - it’s a real mess when you do! )
