My son went out this morning to buy another bristlenose plec for our 4 ft tank but came back with a stripey plec about 3 inches long called a queen arabesque.
I'm abit worried it won't get on with our bristlenose and if it's going to be a monster sized plec.

Queens ( L260 ) are great looking Plecs, don't woory they only get to a max 4". How much did you pay ?

Congrats. They are stunning little plecs. I have a male and female Queen Arabesque in my community tank. They get on with all their tank mates, including our BN. I also have numerous cories and red whiptails and there is no problems. Your new addition will take time to settle though, so put food in for him/her when you put the lights off.

They also like a few different things to eat. Both of ours absolutely love frozen shrimp. I bought a pack of shrimp from Asda and defrost a few before plopping them into the tank (our BN loves it too). They also eat Sera catfish chips, shrimp pellets and my female adores blanched courgette, cucumber and potato.

Have you got any caves in your tank? L260's like to have a place they can sleep and hide in if they need to. Our female loves her cave. They do eventually become friendlier, but it may take a while.

Got any pics?? £25 sounds about right too. Paid that for one of mine, a bit more for the other.

:D

I have a Queen Arabesque too, she has been in the tank now for 2 months and is just starting to come out alot more, I have recently rearranged the tank to allow more hiding places so maybe she feels more secure. They are stunning fish, I do hope to get her a male sometime in the future but a new tank will be needed for them.

I paid 20 pounds for mine, really 25 is not bad unless the fish is tiny. I think mine is nearly full grown now though.

EDIT She does seem to enjoy sucking on bogwood too.

Thanks for the feeding info. :) I'll buy a bag of frozen shrimp from the supermarket.
It doesn't come out much and is very shy at the moment but has places to hide. Our bristlenose doesn't hide anywhere now and is out all day.
If they wern't so expensive i'd buy another one. :) They also had golden nuggets and they were 5 quid cheaper.
