hello everyone
my nephew has just walked in the house with a beautiful goldfish ( red cap oranda)
i wondered whether this fish can be put in my 70 litre tropical tank
thanks

I dont think the water temp is the problem...its the diseases youre bringing in that you cant see... bacteria, parasites etc...

get the fish its own 20 gallon set up and seed the new filter with old media from the tropical...no need for heater either

Can't goldfishes live through tropical climates?

it's just that they won't live a happy one, and it isn't reccomended.
also, the tank's too small imo.

goldfish are temperate not coldwater..they can survive well in any reasonable temp....maybe top end of tropical is a bit too much all year round but certainly lower tropical temps dont harm them at all...all you have is a fish that will need more maintenance as it will eat more and excrete more, and grow faster.
a true coldwater fish is something like a trout or salmon.
