Hey guys.

Okay so yesterday adding some water to my tank I accidently dropped about a quarter of a container of food in the tank (DOH). The container Net Weight was about 1oz so I figure a good 7g of food dropped in (maybe a bit less). I changed the water asap and tried to get as much food out as possible. This morning she was staying near the top kinda gasping (not as bad as I've seen with other goldies but yeah). So three or so more buckets of water later and she's lounging at the bottom of the tank for the passed...4 hours? She was breathing heavier before but still. I also have a Danio with her (had more but they passed away and I've yet to buy more for the school) and he is just as funky as ever. Did I just stress her out? I've had her for a good three years. The tank is a 50g but probably only filled about 40g. Aside from the Danio she is the only other fish. There is also a crap load of Java Fern and a bit of Java Moss. I'm not a noob fish keeper...I've had the same Green Spotted Puffer for going on eight years no w and have had a nano SW coral tank before. I'm worried about my fishie

. I did one more bucket water change and she's still the same. She means a lot to me as she's the fish I got from my grandpas pond before he moved into a nursing home and passed away. Yesterday she was her normal self...

She has pooped A LOT since lol...I remove the poop when I see it floating. I don't think it's an over feeding issue as she has been more lethargic since the WC. I don't want to stress her more with additional WCs and I honestly have no clue what to do at the moment. \

Thanks for any help.

exact water parameters?
Do more water changes... its the only way you can save the goldie
you have another tank that it could go in instead

Probably just stressed out, did you dechlorinate / use water conditioner in the water change? Leave all the lights off for a while to reduce stress.

0 Amm/ 25 nit/ 35~(ish) nat

A bit high =/ oh and I have no liquid for ammonia. Only litmus strips.

Oh sorry. I always use Water conditioner. And I guess I could put her in a 10g for the moment.

Oddly enough she actually swam fairly normally just after I posted that last post. Back chilling at the bottom now though =/. I hope it's just stress. Lights have been out since 12pm and the curtains closed. Just dim light.

ok if the 10 gallon is cycled that it should be fine temporaley.

I would do another 50% water change, I would also recommend that you purchase an API Liquid Master Test Kit, comes with all of the testing you need and it's quite accurate for freshwater. I probably wouldn't have moved her, as that will just stress her out even more... I'd stick to the water changes.

I should of mentioned, it's an empty 10g. I'd have to fill it first. My only other tank is brackish and I'm sure she would not enjoy that or chilling with my Puffer heh...

Thanks Skies. Yeah I'm going out to buy a new test kit tonight. I just ran out of the ammonia tester I have the other solutions :).

well,, then keep on with WCS the ten gallon isnt cycled so it cant have fish in t.

Yeah unless I did daily 100% WC's (which would probably be a terrible idea)I won't be moving her over.

I'll keep you updated. Thanks NC/Liv.

Well my darlin' is back to her old goldfishy self! Swimming around and routing through the gravel like usual. She's not pumping her gills anymore either
