Apparently goldfish can thrive in water butts, and they don't have any kind of filtration. If you intend to not use a filter and pump in the pond you should ensure it is sheltered in the summer as the increased temperature will deplete oxygen levels in the water. I'd personally not apply goldfish to a pond without a pump and filter; instead i'd put green tench in there since they love eating algae and can survive in horrid water conditions.

I would say no. During the summer the water will get scummy and loose too much oxygen. Mosquito fish will do fine but good luck finding them in a 10,000 gallon pond.

Add lots of plants and it would be great for a few goldfish, they will probably eventually breed too.

Go for different reeds and marginal plants, ones that have their leaves above the water but roots in the water. Aquatic plants are a good idea too.

How deep is it? And how cold does it get in your area?

oh dont worry about the winter im in lahore, pakistan. its the tropics! and i will grow like 3 calla lilies and 1 or two lotuses in there. and later on, i will make a diy filter system with 55 gallon barrels as the filter chambers.

tropics indeed it is!
have been here many times as my husbands family all live in Lahore, i once burnt my feet going ( barefoot) to the end of the drivway to get milk from the milkman
they have a pond/waterfall in there garden, but off the top of my head i cant remember if any fish are kept in it
im sure fish will do fine in that pond, and they`ll enjoy the rain, cos when it comes it really comes

Your fish will do just fine.... I have no filter in my outside pond where I keep my goldish.... Periodically tough.... I flush the pond by letting it run over for about 30 minutes.... the water remains clear.
