I have heard much banter re goldfish and plecs being kept together.

My LFS keeps 12 inch pelcs with koi and goldies in an indoor pond with no hassle.

I want to put a BN plec in with my goldie to eat the algea caused by the direct sunlight.

Yes or No... You decide.

psthe tank temp is 25 c

Is the tank heated? It would be fine if the tank remains at 25 deg C constantly but, if there's no heater, that temp. would drop at night. Also, what size tank? Assuming this is a fancy goldfish (I hope you're not keeping a common at that temp.), you'd need 20 gallons for it and the bristlenose. Both are very messy fish and the high temp. means that, idealy, you'd want even more gallonage.

tank stays at 25c all year due to underfloor heating in the room.

Yes its a fancy tailed goldy around 4 inchs long, the BN plec is around 4inchs long too

i have plenty of filtration and do water changes twice a week without fail.

so you think it will be ok.

there is bog wood in the tank the for plec to nibble and hide under too

my main concern was the peco killing the goldy, could he

I really doubt that the plec would kill him.

I personally do not put any tropicals with goldfish, i dont think it looks good, but a plec would be fine.

Why would the plec kill the goldfish? By the way, bristlenoses don't require wood in their diet so, though the wood's fine to have, it isn't actualy necessary. Just make sure that you are feeding the plec - the algae won't be enugh for it to live off and goldies can be rather greedy so make sure the plec's getting his share. You can feed at night if necessary.

thought the plec might suck his coating

ok coolabout the wood but he likes to hide under it so cant hurt

i feed cucmber every other day and algea disks the other days, at night
