Hi,

I hope that some one can help diagnose a problem with one of our goldfish, The tank was moved was Friday to a new location with the fish transported in a large container. Today one of the fish is staying at the bottom of the tank not looking too good, he has a black spot in the middle of his body on one side. I carnt get a photo at the moment as I dont have a camera with me. The other fish are ok. The spot is about 3-4mm in diameter.

TIA

Derek

more then likely the filters have been knocked back and are having to cycle again
if this is the case the black spot could be down to ammonia burns 20-30% water changes with dechlorinator every other day will help, cut back on feeding.
reall you should have water test kits for ammonia, nitrites and nitrates

how long where the filter not running for?
was the tank filled with fresh tap water?
did you reuse any of the tank water ?
did you clean the filters? if so how?

I have tested the water, NH3 0, NO2 0, NO3 10 (API Test Kit)

The filters wher not running for about 30 mins, they have not been cleaned out. The tank was filled with tapwater and dechlorinator and approx 10% of the original tank water was used. All the other fish are ok.

hi
the filter will have probably been knocked back so you may have had a ammonia spike, do regular water changes, cut back on feeding and keep a close eye on the poorly one, the water changes should help if done either 10% daily or 20% every other day till the problem settles down,
you could even buy as fish revitaliser tonic its basically salt tonic a pick me up for fish.
