hi everyone. Can goldfish have Romaine Lettuce? How about Iceberg? I am looking for some veggies for my goldfish... but i only know of shelled peas and beans. Thank you all replies are appreciated :)

With lettuce use the darkest of the leaves. In a cup of boiled water place a leaf or two until it just gets soggy and then take out and cool in a cup of cold water. You can now put the soggy lettuce in the tank.

can i just take lettuce from the refrigerator and give them some? And what kinds of lettuce can they have?

you can also give them banana cut up in small pieces (peeled of course) but make sure you dont leave it in for too long if its not eaten. cause you defenetly dont want a rotting banana in your tank

eh, i wouldn't really recommend lettuce straight from the fridge. it's probably too tough for the fish to eat. if you blanch the lettuce for a minute or two, it'll be nice and soft-- they'll eat it up in no time. :)

Lettuce isn't very nutritional, it's mostly water.

I agree, iceberg lettuce tends to be one of the least nutritional leafy plants out there, same goes for lettuce in general.

You would be better off feeding them cooked spinache, its an aweful lot more nutritional than lettuce (its high in iron) and in my experience goldfish seem to prefer it over lettuce. It only takes a couple of minutes to wilt/cook in boiling water so is an easy food to prepare, after its cooked just drain it and poor cold water over it to cool it and then chop it up for your goldfish :good: (makes good healthy eating for people too ;) ).
