Goldfish For Kids 2 Ft Tank. Heater/no Heater

ok so the kids have been offered 2 gold fish 7 years old ish we have been told.

what i need to know is i am not sure if i can put a heater in tank because i want to have plants in. What temp should i put heater on at

I was told that goldfish, being cold water fish, prefer and do best in water from 50°F to 68°F.

22C or under is fine,

although you can get a range of plants that can survive temperatures going down to about 15C, in which case you wouldn't need the heater

Seems cruel putting them in water so cold, Lol i know thats why they called coldwater fish, but its bloody freezing

Tank all set up waiting for fish to arrive, should get them in around 30mins. My friend is bringing them plus cycled filter she only a few mins up the road.

Hopefully someone can tell me what type of gold fish they are
