I have had my Golden Puffer for a few months now. He was in a 4ft tank with two Oscars and Plec, but fin nipped the Oscars. He is presently in a 2ft tank, with a 3ft waiting for him when I get a safer stand.

I have run out of snails (his main food is frozen prawns) and was looking on ebay to buy more, but thought I'd ask here first to see if anyone had some going for the price of postage?

His tank did have some Vallis and a nice Bamboo plant, but he decided it was fun to nip the leaves at the base and watch them float to the surface. He also prefers the thermometer floating rather than being stuck to the side of the glass. The heater and spray bar are still in place, but that's not for want of trying. The little vandal ;o)

I'm asuming you have Auriglobus modestus. Nice fish. Warning one of the few puffers that actually feeds on scales and fins. Not just picks on fish, scales and fins actually are a part of their natural diet. They prey on insects and parts of other fish. Will liokey continue to rip chuncks out of your fish until they are dead! This needs a large tank for itself. SOLITARY animal. Stiill pretty rare.

Good luck,
Marine/Freshwater?

Goto your garden centre that sells fish, see if they have any, thats where i got a bag full to start with.

I have about 500 MT snails you can have.

Ive seen loads of stuff where people used MT's and had damaged beaks on Puffers becuase of it. I always use Ramshorns

Well i've never had any problems. I don't have a choice on whether I fed them or not in most cases, they infest the tank, and then they're invincible, and can't be removed.

I really don't think MTS snails are half as big a deal as everyone makes out. They're certainly no harder than cockle shells.
