Most old golden orfe, and some young ones, have a bend tail, some do it it my grandads pond and some in lfs ponds i have seen and well, everywhere......
Why does this happen ?

When i was working on fish farms this was a common problem if they was not feed correctly for the first 6 months of their life, this is usualy to incorrect feeding in the hatchery and not the ongrowing stage. Many pepley thing it's inbreeding but it's not, well it's not most of the time. if the feed was to old or to low in protine then the spines buckel in the caudal peduncle just befor the tail.

Sadily there is nothing you can do unless your feeding a poor food, they still do fine and live as long as usual.

Ok thanks.
I always wonderd.
And i will talk to my grandad about getting some high protien foods as the ones he has are young and the old one he had that was a huge fish had the whole tail problem and it was a shame cos he was a bute so i want these 6 to be nice and healthy.
