saw one in my LFS - never seen one before =- they look lufly!

im thinking of swapping my plecos for that one (or trading whatever)

he/she was no bigger than 4 inches - how much should i expect to pay for one????

i know the price but dont want to be ripped off.....

thanks :)

They go for about £25. Word of warning though check it over first. If its not hiding then its probably sick and also get the lfs people to chase it onto the front glass to check if its belly is sunken (if it is then its probably sick).

Also what are you going to be keeping it with as the fancy types dont compete for food all that well.

he was at the back of the tank sucking on the glass :)

i may be back in on thursday to see if they stilll have him

any more price ideas to get an average?

:)

becasue a plec is out in the open doesnt mean its sick may well just not be a shy as the others that is no way a comparison 2 be a sick fish .... my plecs are often in the open with all the lights on "are mine sick" as 2 the sunken belly yes its not good but could just be underfed again not a somethink u can give a comparison 2 a sick fish if slightly sunken belly then just feed him/her well when u get it :)

prices can go from £25 all the way upto £40 depending where u are around here there quite common and only sell for about £25 :)

Mine are out all the time but in the average lfs tank a healthy pl*co will be doing its best to hide. Anyway I wouldnt buy one thats out in the open or has a sunken belly but thats just me. I took a chance with a mango like this and then sat back helpless as is starved to death.

I paid £15 for mine, and is qiute active at times when the lights are on.

Cheers Gordon.

thanks :)

i need to get rid of 1 of my sailfins though :(

was getting rid in a few months anyhow but still dont really want too lol!!!!

I've purchased two from WalMart(it's all we have in town),...and neither survived. I did some research, and read that often with fish like these, they are starved during transport, and the "gut bacteria"dies. Once this happens, the fish cannot get nutrition, even when it eats. The GNP has a reputation for dieing for no apparent reason. They are beautiful though...which is why I tried the second time!!!

If a Bary has a sunken belly in the shop chances are it will die, they are hard to turn around

im afraid i dont agree have rescued a few in my time just becasue of this reason and i felt sorry for them (yes im strange lol) but all had sunken bellies nothink major but either way they were sunken and all survived and lived a very happy life untill they were rehomes i guess really its just hit and miss personally feed very well and they have just as much chance a living as they would have with dieing :) but a £16 i would buy just for the sake of trying 2 give him a better life :)
