Hi all,

At the moment we are in the process of cycling our tank so trying to decide on what fishes to get once its ready. I have seen some of these fellas in a lfs and think they are stunning :) Just wondered if any of you could tell me more about them, like how big do they get? How many to keep etc.

Thanks in advance guya

I've had a few and mine were roundabout the 2" to 2.5 inch in size... (preferring slightly softer water than your average barb. The amount you intend to keep will rely exclusively on the space you have available. What size is your tank??

Its a 215ltr tank about 3ft wide. Its just that I read that they could grow to about 4 inches?? The PH of my tap water is 7.6ish, would this be to hard for them?

It is not impossible that they do get to that size, I'm only commenting on what I've experienced... 7.6pH does seem rather pretty high alkalinity.

They are a pretty sturdy barb that i've seen at about 3 inches. Be carefull if you want a planted tank though as they are monsters for munching on vegitation
