Im not not on golden barbs, but the tiger barb profile has some tips on breeding them and as far as i know these sorts of egg laying fish are relitavely essentially the same when it comes to breeding if that helps;
I described my Tiger Barb breeding setup here. Golden Barbs are bred in the same way, but with a couple of observations.
A common problem is trying to breed fish which are not mature. These fish can get up to 100mm, trying to breed very small fish doesn't work.
When they are in breeding condition, both sexes develop a pinkish colouration on the lower abdomen, it is useless to try spawning them if this is not present.
Although quite large fish, the females produce a very large number of really very small eggs, thus the feeding of the fry, once free swimming, can be problematic. You need to be prepared for this.
