Not herd of a gold ring plec but a ringlet pleco... aka L104 clown plec/panaque maccus...

Maybe also L204 flash, never herd it called a gold ring but does often have a ringed pattern so to speak lol.

Thats the one! it was £5.80 i was tempted to get it but knew better as i knew naff all about it and don't trust what the shop tells me. I'll do some research and see if it would be ok in any of my tanks. Do you have any past experiance or advice about it?

Prefers lower temps and fast water flow, as you probably already know, it's not a plec but a loach.

i have one now, well its for sale in the classifieds section, had it for about 18 months and its about 2.5 inch, fully grown, they do come from fast flowing streams with a high oxygen content and generally a bit cooler than your average community tank. though saying that mine has lived happily at about 27 celsius for as long as i've had it and as you can see if you look at the pictures its in perfect health. they can be a bit aggressive, with other bottom dwellers, it chases the corydoras and really attacks the frogs, but apart from that they are really good looking fish and are very active, you will always have to make sure food is getting o the bottom of your tank.

Yeh its pretty much a fancy hill stream loach from what i've read. Where are you located on the offchance its near? if yours has lived at that then i'm sure they would be fine in a tank around 24-25-C nowhere says if they are best kept single, pairs groups etc anyone know of this?
