Ok, My LFS has got some of these in and ive always liked them, thinking of getting one, what's the max size in captivity- ive seen HUGE ones but ive been told they dont get that big in captivity. Thought id better ask before buying this (especially with it being a pleco). Do they have any other special requirements i should know about?

they get upto about 7 inches long, as for food, frozen bloodworms, prawns, courgette, etc, these are very slow growers, so dont worry if he or she does not appear to be growing very much. great little plecs, i have one and he doing fine. provide plenty of hidie holes for them.

males have flatter head, females have more rounded head.

hope that helps.

I saw those at my LFS couple of weeks ago, and I was really tempted except they cost $40 each...

Can they be bred in an aquarium? So far, I'm having no luck finding this info...

never heard of this particular kind ....but if it helps ur avg. normal plec will get around 18 inches in captivity and is very hard to stunt growth b/c the seem to not care ..... but they are quite easy to breed in ponds i hear

You've never heard of a gold nugget plec? Where have you been living? on Mars? :p

The gold nugget is about as far from 'your average nomal plec' as you can get!
