Gold Nugget Pleco

HI,

i just bought one and it has all the same markings the gold trim on it's tail and top fin and the dots all over it's just the dots are more of a whitish colour then gold, he's still pretty small so i'm wondering if they start white and turn gold as he matures?

Pale spots can be down to a number of things, namely

• Natural variation
• maturity
• Stress
• Diet
• Water quality

Our two were grey with white spots when we got them, but a regular diet of algae wafers, fresh veg & bloodworm means they are now jet black with almost flourescent yellow spots & fin edges.

yeah mine was half between black/gray body colour and his spots were white/gray when i bought him, I've been watching and he seems too be munching on the algae in the tank (there's a lot ) i think i need to add a few things in there to suit him so we'll see how things go

forgot to mention his fin edges are gold it's just his spots
