I have bought a Gold Nugget Pleco today and are going to collect it later today. Are there any thing strange extra requirements for this fish? It looks beautiful. I red that they are rather aggressive, would he harm my Starlight Bristle nose Plec?

Thanks!

:D

They can be territorial with there own species but shouldnt bother your other fish. They need bogwood in the tank as it forms a large part of their diet and nitrates need to be kept below 40ppm as they cannot tolerate high nitrate levels, they also should ideally be kept in soft water with a pH of 7 or below but the hardier farm bred goldnuggets that are now appearing can tolerate slightly harder water and pH of up to around 7.5.

You might have a hard time feeding him with all of those loaches,IME they're not the most aggressive eaters and will shy back from all the commotion at feeding time. Try feeding him at night while the others are tucked away in their caves

Good Luck with him!!
