hi ,
have recently bought a gold nugget plec (L177 ?) , have not seen it for a few days there are a few rocks , bogwood , placesfor him to hide , but am just worried that he not eating , have been dropping an alge wafer in before lights out .just after abit of advice for the little fella !! i wish that i had done a bit of reading on them to be honest !! thanks in advance nik

Hi, i had one a few weeks ago. Beautifull fish, unfortunately mine died as shortly after a water change.

I found mine to be very nocturnal. He did venture out during the day, albeit to dart to another hiding place, often sitting behind the filter outlet. Feeding just before lights out is a good thing. Try weighted cuccumber slices or lettuce leaves, they like their veg.

I knew they were temperamental fish, and they like pristine conditions. Unfortunately after a couple of weeks mine didnt last very long after a big 50% water change, I used cooler water and i'm sure that was my downfall.

I hope you have more luck with yours, if you see him that is! They are very shy plecs i'm afraid.
