Hi I am new to forums and really fish illiterate, even though I have 2 tanks.

I bought 3 gold mollies 3/5/05. seller told me 1 was very pregnant. I immediatly netted her when I got home. This morning I had a net full of fry. Before going to work I removed the parent. How long do I leave the fry in the net? There are at least 20. Thank for any info that you can give me.

The bigger fish will eat the babies if they get the chance. The babies should be big enough in a few months. Good luck and congrats on the babies!

Oh, you're so lucky! My Molly barely had 16. But for my mom, she thinks 10 is a lot. LOL

This ? is in regard to my netted fry. If I have to keep them in the breeder net for a couple of months, how do I clean the net? There are about 20 + fry and the net is not very big, also how many of the fry can I keep in such a small net? :/

You can clean the net by using a piece of air pump tubing as a mini gravel cleaner :) Or if you can get your hands on a small aquarium w/ a sponge filter you can put them in there until they are big enough to go into the big tank.

I try & leave the fry in the net for as short a time as possible. I found a little fry (I'm assuming guppy) in my bag of ghost shrimp that I bought & I couldn't put him in the big tank to get eaten so I put him in a little sea monkey tank for awhile. Now he's slightly deformed :( He's in the main tank now though, no one seems to be bothering him & he's still pretty small.

Anyway that never happened to me w/ a breeding net, but ya never know I guess. Give it a month or so, and when they double or so in size let one or two free to make sure it's ok :) IME it usually is.
