Hi just bought 8 Gold heart hatchets from the LFS for my Rekord 96. Just done a google search and cannot find any information about them!!!

Anyone have any information or experience with dealing with them????

I don't think "gold heart hatchets" exist but are another type of fish you bought, can you describe their color, shape and size please?

The fish where in a tank next to another species of hatchet called Gold Stripe/line Hatchets. They are from a respectable store in Wigan called Pier Aquatics which is where i have got all of my fish from so i have no reason to doubt that they are lying.

Any way heres a quick picture ive knocked up

The fish where it is marked on the 2nd picture at the top, rear and front sections are more see through than the 1st picture and the same colour as the front section and the central bit is a very shiny gold colour

Hope this helps

no its not those because they don't have the gold bit in the middle!!!

Hi Venom,

Could they be Carnegiella myersi, i had to do it the old fashioned way and look through some books. According to the book it is the smallest of the hatchetfish growing to one inch.

Here's a link, it just depends on which pic you look at

I know fish shops come up with some interesting names, when i got my "rocket tailed pencil fish" i couldn't find any info but found them to be listed as Nannostomus eques which are also known as brown tailed pencil fish (not quite as exciting a name).

Hope this helps

Very nice hachets, Vernon. You lucked out. I like.

Good job! emma 1232

They do give some original (or not) names to guys. I don't think they mean to lie. Ya gotta call 'em sumpin'.
