Hello, My brand spanking new Super Wal-mart has had these Gold Gouramis for about three weeks. They are gorgious not to mention big. Well anaways i was wondering if they will eat small fish or nipp fines, just how big do they get and what is the tank size they need? how many should be in one tank? And how about some compadibilities? and fish that wont work with them ANY HELP WILL BE APPRECIATED :fish:

hi nix

i've got two gold gouramies in a 60g tank with 3 parrots and two opline gouramies and 7 banana barbs. i've heard that is too many gouramies in one tank but so far no problems. they have been together for about 3 months.

the gold are beautiful, if you are saying that they are big already they probably won't grow much bigger, ours are about 3 inches and are almost full grown. They don't nip at fins but can very aggro towards there own kind, i don't know your tank size but only one in the tank will do, unless you are lucky enough to find a female, our lfs don't carry female. :(

good luck if you do dicide to buy one, they are great fun to watch, we even bought a powder blue for our 110g.

I too have two goldens. They can be agressive towards eachother, but dont usually bother with other fish. They usually swim around in the morning, but then spend the rest of the time just sitting in the back. Ive seen other gouramis do this too, so I dont think its too odd of a behavior.

Also, you may want to check out blue gouramis, goldens are simply a color morph of them :)

I have a large pearl gourami and it is a very peaceful fish, mostly hangs out at the top of the tank.

I also have two dwarf gouramis, they are also very peaceful but tend to be a bit more lively than the pearl. All are very beautiful fish.

By the way the cory in the picture looks like a Leopard Cory

I would love to find a cory like that

Anyway, my expierence with gouramis is that they can be fin nippers. You don't wana mix flowing fin fish with gouramis.
