Going To The Surface?

I know what it means when cories go to the surface(water qualities bad) but only one of my cories go to the surface(i have 4) I just put them in the tank yesterday also. Should I do a water change? The tank was already setup.

When I used to keep cories they used to go up to the surface really quickly to gulp air and then go back down again straight away, I think this is normal behavior for them as long as they don't stay at the top.

If you have any doubts, do a water change. It won't hurt and will often help.

Corys do sometimes dart to the surface and gulp some air. They are able to swallow it and absorb some oxygen through their intestines, so this is a normal process for them. It's only when they do it regularly that it becomes an indication of trouble.

if they continuously do it then do a water change, but mine do it too as ive read they are one of very few fish that can actually breathe air in from the atmosphere pr something so don't worry yourself too much.
