I;m going away for a week in May

this is a new set up and I;m worried that there will be a disaster

I;ve never worried with tropicals but will my marine fish and sun coral be fine without food for a week

how bout the lights althouh I can put them on a timer?

Simon

You have time to train someone :good:

put a line on the tank showing where to top-up to
put ro container next to tank (putting in a small amount of cold water evry day, will be fine)
put a timer on the lights
put food in individual packets foreach day

training someone is a no go really my two good mates are working away I don;t speak to my family and wouldn;t trust my neighbours in my house. I;m just going to have to risk the lack of food

fortunately I don;t lose that much water in this tank

well my tank only needs toping up once a week :good: somtimes even longer. automatic feeder? some people with sun corals feed them once a week. i would slowly train your sun coral not eat as much, so cut it down by 1 feed a week and see how it gos. if you feel it need feeding more than once a week then ..... i dont know

:D Have exactly the same problems myself! having just come back from a week working away, all seems fine in my tank.
My lights are on timers anyway, I do a couple of water changes the week before I go, I also shove a pile of Copepods and rotifiers in the tank along with Brine shrimp eggs and Phyto which of course act as live food for both fish and corals and boosts my resident critter populations.
Like you I don't lose a lot of water through evaporation and so that's not really an issue.
Hope that helps

it does cheers Seren

time will tell eh!! lol

Just got back from a week away myself left my next door neighbour to pop in and feed the tank.

Guessing you dont have an auto top-up ? I would train whomever who to top up in neccasary as we may have a hot stint I just added a 25L RO to my topup so no issues :good:

The only advise I would recomend is do nothing out of routine dont change phosphate remover or carbon

lights on timers are a good thing if you dont have them on a timer already
