Hey I am going away for 5 days and just started a reef tank. I have a few corals and I forgot to get a timer for my lighting. Should I leave the light on for the days i am gone or should i turn it off. Any suggestions would be appreciated...

Thank You,

Sam

NO try as hard as you can to get a timer if you leave your lights on 24hrs a day then the evapuration would raise salinity by alot and might kill your fish and corals

yeah, get that timer!
or maybe you could make arrangements with some one to
turn the lights on+off?

Get the timer there pretty cheap not more than ten dollars. and you can get one at a wal-mart. If you leave the lights on 24/7 you will burn the corals. and like we do the tank NEEDS a day and night cycle.

But not any old timer. What is your lighting? If MH, you need a heavy duty outdoor timer and those are on the order of $25. They look like little black boxes a bit smaller than a brick. In any case you need a heavy duty timer, 3-prong not 2-prong, or it may fail (and yes, I have experienced this failure in my tank).
