Hey everyone!

I have sort of a delema. I am going away this coming Friday evening and coming back the following Sunday afternoon. I am very stumped on how I am going to feed my Motoro Ray.... He eats ghost shrimp and earthworms, so an automatic feeder is not an option, and there may not be anyone I know in my area that is going to be here this weekend to come and feed him. Would the stingray be okay for "about" 48 hours?? Does anyone have any suggestions??

Thanks,

Wonderboy!

Put in two days worth of live ghost shrimp before you leave.

It will certainly be fine for two days without food.

yep agree with cfc he will have a lot of hunting to do with 2days worth so there will be more than enough to last him and add some worms to because they burrow and when the ray burrows he should find em

ghost shrimp is salt water and will only live in the tank for about 6hrs then it will die and polute the tank badly

how long have you had the ray as you should have it feeding on dead food

the ray will be fine if its fat and feeding well before you go away as before rays are shipped they starve them for about 10-14 days before shipping it may then take another week for them to start feeding again when they reach the LFS

so it should be OK

I've never had any problems with river (ghost) shrimp in my tanks and have often found the odd one hiding in a crack or crevice weeks after i last fed them to the fish, also in America inland areas are more likely to have freshwater shrimps than saltwater ones due to the difficulty in transporting them.

Worms will drown after a few hours and if not eaten will pollute the tank, only add worms one at a time adding another each time the last was eaten.

As said a healthy fat ray is fine without food for a couple of days but if i remember rightly this is the little skinny motoro you picked up from a friend not long ago?

It wasn't skinny, my friend was unable to provide the care for it. He says it was a money problem, but I think it was just laziness.

And I keep a live feeder tank (20 Gallons), and I keep both guppies for the ATFs and ghost shrimp for the ray. The shrimp have never died off - Though I heard from another person that they can only breed in salt water. Don't trust me saying that - I haven't looked it up yet.
