Do they need sand or something to burrow unfer in order to survive?

Which species of goby?

Peacock eels would preffer a sand substrate but wouldnt die through the lack of one. It is much more likely to be a water quallity issue as eels do not tolerate nitrogen pollution well.

I had 3 eels. All died. Although it wasn't my fault. Death one was me not cycling, death two was that I had bought it with a virus and death 3 was there was a blackout here and it died. So they are a very weak fish, and you can keep one, but you just have to have backup plans to avoid problems.

Hey Claw I have a peacock eel, and he is right now in some preety good size gravel and he is doing fine, however i am switching to sand because i think it will be easier for him, but they can survive in any gravel. Good luck with yoiurs
