Glow Lights And Neons - Fin Nipping?

Hi

I have a 48ltr tank and I have 5 glow lights, 5 neons and 2 gold gouramis (excuse the spelling if incorrect. Before we got the Gouramis I noticed one of the glow lights has had its tail fin nipped, there is now hardly anything left! I have found one of the neons today now also has an ever shrinking tail, please could someone advise if this is normal or what could be causing them to do this? Does this mean they will both be likely to die.

Fin nipping among tetras is normal, that is if, what you have is just fin nipping and not fin rot.

Thanks. How would I know if it were fin rot, what do I need to look out for?

Usually if the area of fin that's being nipped is black, like an outline, then it's finrot.

thanks, checked carefully and there is nothing like that on the them.
