What is the smallest recommended tank for a glofish?

Since they are GM zebra danios, then I'd recommend a group of 6 to 8 in a 20 gallon minimum.

Anything which allows them more than 24 to 30" of a run - they school and swim fast - so something like a 20-long or bigger...

Why? It;s like painted glassfish (which I don't agree with) but what's done has been done. No amount of Boycotting is gonna help the ones I find in an LFS. Since it's already been done I can give 'em a good home.

However I do not agree with artificially engineering any animal in any way shape or form.

Their genetically modified so there is nothing wrong with that. Glofish are zebra danios with genetically modified genes. However back on subject, they like about a 20gallon long tank. They like long places to swim across. They are very active fish and i think their neat. Good Luck with them if you get some!

The question was what size of tank, not IF...

And why should one not be keeping them? I mean assuming you live in a jurisdiction where they are not illegal? There isn't conclusive evidence to support the "usual" reasons -
1) they're not painted or dyed (so the painted glassfish reasons fail there)
2) there isn't any conclusive evidence to prove any damage to the environment if they are released
3) they aren't emiting any toxins into the aquarium
4) the fish itself isn't functionally disabled like some "natural" goldfish

A GM fish is just like any GM product - I don't see how it's any worse than modified corn - built for a purpose (see the glo-fish website)

I bought 5 the other day and added them to my 20 gallon long. They are sooooo pretty and active. I thought they were dyed and bought them on a whim (desperate to add some color to the fish in my tank already), thinking they would probably die. (Dyed fish.... from WALMART, no less). Then I went to a pet store and the guy there said all their GloFish died really fast. And they were charging $7.99 each! I was glad I bought them cheap at Walmart.

Then I find out they're genetically altered and I think that's SO COOL. Now I love them even more. Once I put them in the tank, it really came to life! I wish they had had the green ones, they would nicely accent the gravel in my tank

aslong as they are GM when they are an egg, no pain is caused, but yes i would also say a 20 long (£30 here) they are very active. I am all for GM why not? were just moving with the times, people say it aint as nature intended, well neither are most of he angelfish types, or parrot fish, or even keeping fish in tanks for that matter.

Well yes a 20 Long would be a nice size and you could also get a few, maybe try to get a few different colours, it would look nice red, blue and green (i have seen pink on the net also) schooling.

As I understand it they're not GM'd as eggs - the original 'founders' where modified but since then they breed true....
