cpowell and i are currently organizing a great lakes chapter of the ibc. if anyone would like the details or information on joining you can pm either me or carrie for the details. we need 2 additional ibc members to apply for our charter.

Yes the GLBS (Great Lakes Betta Society)'s homebase will be in Michigan, but we are not limiting membership to only Michingan residents.

Haha yeah "Great Lake" is kinda misleading ... I'm on lake ERIE. Wish I was closer -- there's no IBC chapters around me.

I think that there is some confusion here guys, Semper and my wife CPowell both live in michigan hence the fact that it is based in michigan. however, membership is open to anybody it doesn't matter what state you live in. and furthermore, the reason for calling it"Great Lakes" is due to the fact that Michigan is called the Great Lakes state.

That's nice that you're starting a non-regional chapter. I'm an IBC member, but in my area (as I mentioned) there's no local chapters around. Maybe someday I'll have the time and expertice to start one (though who knows if there's even enough interested people in the area to start one).

But anyway... I talked to semper... count me in. And let me know if you need any help with the website -- I may as well put my Penn State MIS degree to some good use.

A club is for local betta enthusiasts to gather and trade info and fish. Meetings are usually held once a month,so hopefully you'll find something in your area

Thanks wuv! we are really excited about it. also, you can be a member of more than one chapter. we are setting up our meetings a little different. they are going to be held online in a chatroom. that way we are not limited to people nearby. also carrie is in the upper peninsula and i am in the lower.

I think Teknocolor and Jacblades and I are contemplating starting a chapter in Alabama. It has gotten as far as talk LOL....so who knows. Good luck guys

Yeah I've checked -- unfortunately the closest one is about 2 hours away (Pittsburgh) -- so for special events I could definately make the trip, but probably not very often (especially in the winter -- we get terrible snow here).

Its ok though. I'm looking forward to being a part of the GLBS anyway!
