Hi there,

was wondering what thickness glass I need for a sump 600mm x 300mm x 400mm high also here is the overflow I am building thanks to the net :) http://www.reefs.org/library/diy/diy_winner1.html

Building a new cabinet (larger) to house sump, co2, and bits and pieces is bottled co2 and equipment expensive to set up?

Regards Darren

Just built mine..
I used 6mm plate glass.

Hi Big C,

do you stick it together then silicone it?

Duzzy

p.s. found a good second hand dealer for glass and also baffles will add strength wont they?

I build all my tanks on the base,
I sort of spot weld the pieces together first and use the masking tape to hold the thing togher and keep the shape.
Then once the silicone dabs have cured I go ahead and seal the whole thing up, both internal and external smears.
Yeah baffles would add strength but I dont really need it for that tank, it was for a different aspect why I was looking to put them in or not.

BigC.

so you build on the base not around the base?

Yes.. Thats the way I've always done it. so I see no reason to change. Haven't had a leaker yet (touch wood)LOL
