Hi,

how many glass cats do you all keep together? Will they be ok with tetras and cories, 2 dwalf chain loaches.

They have a 4' planted tank. 27 other fish so far. It's been up and running for a couple of months now too. Thanks :)

Thanks do you think they will not do well in my aquarium then? I realize they are all wild caught, do they adapt to a different ph etc. my ph is quite high anyway at 7.6.

All my other tetras are in shoals of 6 so that is no problem, and my local lfs has recently had a nice group in, and I was going to buy a small shoal.

If YOU read my post it says 4'!! I HAVE also asked around and done my reading, they are kept in lfs at between 7.2 and 7.8 ph You sounded as though you kept them and have therefore introduced them into your aquarium. You obviously have not, so I will refer to my other sources.
It would have been nice to have spoken to someone who has kept them before as they are wild caught fish, and I was interestsed as to how they will adapt.

i have kept them, and 4 foot tells me nothing apart from the length, you came here for help and im telling you how, if you cant be bothered to do a little for yourself then why are you keeping fish?

if you research them then you can make sure you have the right enviroment for them.

Posting on the forum IS doing research! Let's keep this fun please.

i have a school of 6 glass cats they love my planted aquarium and actually need plants to thrive
i'm lucky i have java fern as this is one of their fav plants and comes from the same region as them

a group of 6 or more is what you are aiming for
they like softish water and not too high a ph

mine are in soft water sorry dont have the reading but we are def soft water in devon
my ph is 7-7.2 and i keep them at 24c

they should be ok with tetras if the tetras are not nippers as the cats have lovely long whiskers that you dont want to get nipped so if there are nippy fish i wouldnt recommend getting the glass cats

let us know your actual stocking to see if you can add these

Thanks Sarah x

I have kept many of these fish in the past. They'll do fine in any tank at least 36inches of length. They'll do fine without salt in the water. They'll do fine with the loaches and tetras, they are very peaceful. It would be ideal to keep at minimum a group of 6, they need presence of their own kind or they will be timid and stressed.
