I just went to go check on my 29 gallon and one of my glass cats was bent in the middle. I can't take a picture of him now as it is too late, but I can take one maybe tomorrow in the morning if he is still bent like that. He was fine earlier today so I don't know what could have happened. I even did a 25% water change as I always do on mondays. :dunno: The other glass cat is fine. He is about 1.5 inches long and the bend is a little bit after his head kind of in the middle of his body. it isn't an arch but a bend that sticks out to the left. Any idea of what this might be? He also as a red spot near his belly but I am thinking he maybe just ate a red flake as sometimes they will show the color of the flake they ate after feeding time.

Please help!

The red spot shouldnt really be there because glass cats intestines and internal organs are wrapped in the silver "bag" you see beneath their heads. So any red dot is unlikely to be food unless he has damaged his stomach and internals somehow.

Im unsure to what the "bend" is. But catfish are pretty suseptable too fungal attacks if water quility is poor. If you have plants, remove all dead leaves and rubbish atleast daily.

If it comes to the point where he cannot swim, i would suggest uthenasia. (sp?) Fungal attacks in glass cats are hard to fight.

PS. They "should" be in groups no smaller than 6

Yea I had quite a few of them but lost all but 2 due to a nasty nitrite spike which the cause was unknown. The water is perfect! I even did a gravel vac and changed out 25% of their water. He is swimming around fine. I just checked on him again, he is still bent but is showing some pinkish in his head area near the stomach.

He doesn't have the pink anymore, I figured out he had a flake in his mouth and I guess he didn't eat it and spat it out. He is still bent this morning so I am turning up the temp slowly. He is still swimming around and ate some flakes today at feeding time so I am hoping he will be okay. He doesn't show any other signs of disease or infection.

He is swimming around fine, kind of being pushed by the air bubbles but every fish is pushed by them. :p I don't know if I should quarantine him or not. I don't have a cycled tank to stick him in. :dunno:
