A friend of mine brought me a pleco and a lone tiger barb at work last night because her son's fish just keep dying and they have NO clue how to change that. Honestly, I don't think they want to. Said pleco is 3.5 inches, end to end, and one suggestion was that he looked like a baby gibbiceps. If that is the case, he will be free to a good home in a couple of weeks after I have had a chance to spoil him for awhile and he is nice and healthy. I am in Streetsboro, Ohio, so if anyone thinks they might be interested in giving this little guy a home, if he is definitely a gibbiceps, you are welcome to him. He will get too large for my tanks, and hubby already has a common in his oscar tank.

There is also the lone tiger barb looking for someone who has some friends he could go live with. :)
Otherwise my tank count is about to grow to add a barb tank!

He's not a hypostomus for definite. He could be one of the more common "common" plecs (there are several species sold as them - hypostomus species not being as often seen now) - liposarcus pardalis? The difference between hypostomus species and liposarcus species is the number of dorsal rays (as well as differences in shape/head, etc). Hypostomus have 5-8 dorsal rays, liposarcus have 11-14. Not sure how many gibbies have (will have to count De Niro's) but he looks like the red toned liposarcus pardalis that others have been reporting on other forums? Might be best asking an expert though  :good:

And where can I find this expert Kathy????? Help! Here are a couple of new pics that I got yesterday....he seems to be settling in nicely :D
